Africa

ECLOF has been working in Africa since 1961. Today, ECLOF serves around 60,000 clients in Africa. 60% of them are women and 63% live in rural areas. Most loans are given to solidarity groups of like-minded entrepreneurs or farmers coming together to learn from each other, co-guarantee each other’s loan and grow together.

One of Africa’s greatest untapped resources is its young population. This is reflected in ECLOF’s target group in Africa: 34% of our clients are below the age of 35. ECLOF’s loans and non-financial services provide youth with opportunities to develop their own business, confront poverty and lead dignified lives. ECLOF’s services comprise combined loans and training for water & sanitation, courses on financial literacy and the use of insurance.
