ECLOF is pleased to announce the publication of the second edition of its Social Performance Report about ECLOF Sri Lanka, a grassroots microfinance institution established in 1975. This report reflects ECLOF’s ongoing commitment to measuring and managing social and environmental performance among its members. The report was put together along with a recent SPI5 social audit.
Operating through 6 branches, ECLOF Sri Lanka’s 39 staff serve around 5,000 clients across large parts of the country. 98% of clients are women, 80% reside in rural areas, and 35% of loans support smallholder agriculture.
During the SPI5 audit, clients and staff shared reflections that underscored ECLOF Sri Lanka’s impact. From stories of improved livelihoods through micro-loans to expressions of trust in the institution’s ethical practices, the voices captured in this process reaffirm ECLOF’s role as a catalyst for positive change.
The report presents key indicators across social outreach, client protection, customer experience, impact measurement, capacity building, and responsible human resource practices. These insights reflect ECLOF’s mission to deliver values-driven financial services that empower communities and promote sustainable development. Download Report
Client testimonials:
“I have purchased 2 cows using the ECLOF loan to increase my production of milk and yogurt. I sell them at my own retail outlet. In addition to giving me ample time to review the loan agreement, ECLOF thoroughly explained the terms and conditions of the loan. The staff at ECLOF is approachable, well-behaved, and always willing to provide their help.”

“I used this loan from ECLOF to fund LISHU Fashion, my apparel brand. At my home shop, I sew gowns, which I also sell on Facebook. I made an investment in a new sewing machine and printed fabrics to stitch a range of dresses, which tripled my sales and improved my revenue.”
