May 15, 2025, ECLOF Philippines Microfinance, Inc. (EPMI) celebrated its 30th anniversary, bringing together top-performing staff, loyalty awardees, remarkable clients, key branch leaders, and representatives from 11 partner organizations under the theme “EPMI @ 30: Towards Greater Significance and Impact.” The event reflected 30 years of EPMI’s transformative journey in fostering financial inclusion and resilience across underprivileged communities.
General Assembly member and EPMI Legal Counsel, Atty. Floyd Lalwet, reflected on the early days of ECLOF in the Philippines, acknowledging the challenges faced and the perseverance shaping its progress. He concluded with a powerful message highlighted EMPI’s faith-driven mission and commitment to uplift lives through financial access: “Jesus Christ is not up there but here with us, washing our feet, to push us up to the kingdom of God.”
Chairperson Ms. Minnie Anne M. Calub and Executive Director Ms. Liza D. Eco welcomed all the guests, partners, staff, and clients, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of every individual who has played a role in the organization’s success.
Then Mr. Ludwig O. Federigan, Director at Climate Tracker Asia and Subject Matter Expert at Co-Operative College, Philippines, delivered a talk titled “Climate Change: Are We Ready? Building Resilient Communities”, reflecting the escalating impacts of climate change—from extreme heatwaves and typhoons to water insecurity and agricultural vulnerabilities. Emphasizing the urgency of proactive adaptation, he called on organizations like ECLOF to champion grassroots-driven solutions for a more sustainable future. “The key is to work together – as one community, one nation, and one humanity – to survive and thrive in this climate crisis.”
The Managing Director of ECLOF International, Mr. Nicolas Karambadzakis, shared ECLOF’s mission to “Promote Social Justice and Human Dignity through Microfinance,” emphasizing its 80-year legacy. From rebuilding communities in post-World War II Europe to advancing socially responsible programs in developing nations like the Philippines, ECLOF has evolved into a global microfinance network committed to empowering underserved communities. Recognizing ECLOF’s vital role in the Philippines, particularly in serving rural populations, female entrepreneurs, and smallholder farmers, he expressed confidence in ECLOF Philippines’ strong values and community-driven approach to fostering lasting economic development and sustainable livelihoods.
The gathering ended with a session about the 2024 Annual Report that outlined ECLOF’s accomplishments, milestones, and solid sustainability. Members of the General Assembly reviewed and approved the strategic plans for the year ahead, ensuring the organization remained aligned with its mission and goals. The election of new Board members marked a further strengthening of leadership and governance.
