In Kenya, smallholder dairy farmer Joseph Njeru has transformed his livelihood through ECLOF Kenya’s Climate Smart Agriculture initiative, supported by Alongside Hope. Facing challenges like poor breeds, high costs, and low productivity, Joseph partnered with ECLOF in 2015 and joined the Kawanjara Dairy Farmers Cooperative. With financial literacy training and capital support, his farm became 10 times more productive, yielding 3,000 liters of milk monthly.
In 2019, his land became a demo farm, offering hands-on training in sustainable dairy practices. By 2025, it featured a modern cow shed, 10,000 liter water tank, and a biogas plant for clean cooking fuel. Now a mentor, Joseph supports over 20 farmers and helps lead a cooperative serving 600+ members. His message: “Your support has taken root. The impact is real and just beginning.”
