The World Council of Churches (WCC), Lutheran World Federation, ACT Alliance, ECLOF and other ecumenical partners gathered in Geneva at the St Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church on 18 February to reflect on the theme “Time To Return”. Rev. Cameron Huber and Rev. Eloïse Miceli, two trainee pastors from the Geneva and Vaud regions of the Protestant Church in Switzerland, delivered a reflection. They noted that the path of Lent is not about humiliation but transformation.“On this journey of preparation, we allow God to shape our hearts.” The pastors advised that prayer and acts of righteousness are to be kept discreet. “Their reward is not to be found in human recognition,” the message noted. “Lent is a time to reflect on our actions and habits.”This time of Lenten prayer offers us a treasure, the reflection continued. “As Easter approaches, we rediscover the promise of a life redeemed by God,” noted the pastors. “It is a path of liberation for us.” This season of preparation for Easter also calls us to reconnect with those around us, to care for the least, for those who suffer, the pastors concluded.
