Client: Malaikkal
Business: Dairy cooperative
Location: India
Gender: Woman
A loyal ECLOF client has helped more than 20 of her neighbors in Southern India to earn a tidy profit from their milk.
When Malaikkal came to ECLOF India for advice in 2003, her dairy cooperative was losing money. Malaikkal, 55, had founded the co-op in 2000 out of good intentions, but expensive debts and underpricing were destroying profits.
“I now procure nearly 250 liters of milk every day from the members of the cooperative to sell on. This has boosted my business,” says Malaikkal.
Client: R.Selvi
Business: Sewing and selling of saris
Location: India
Gender: Woman
“I can now handle my own finances, independently of ECLOF’s further guidance” says R. Selvi as she looks proudly at her newly purchased loom which brings her and her family an income of USD 30 per sari.
Creating a partnership of equals rather than offering charity – this was the principal goal of our founding fathers when they created ECLOF International in 1946, and today ECLOF India can be proud to have helped Selvi and many others to achieve self-sustainability.

Client: Violie Pagawan
Business: Flower cultivation
Location: Philippines
Gender: Woman
Flower grower Violie Pagawan has more than doubled her earnings since she started financing her business with ECLOF loans, cutting out middle-men and getting a much fairer deal. One of her previous lenders even required a 50% share of her harvest.
In Baguio City, Philippines, the flower trade is a well established industry. Greenhouses are used to cultivate flowers all year round and this is where Violie’s Solidarity Group, Takingan and Partners, are growing flowers for the local cut-flower market where there is plenty of demand.
