ECLOF anniversary in Brazil

15 December 2014 | CEADe supporting the neediest segment of the population in Brazil for 30 years

This October 27, ECLOF’s Brazilian member CEADe celebrated its 30 years anniversary. Those who have contributed to its success over the past thirty years took this opportunity to gather and celebrate together: clients, staff, partners, board members and former presidents of the institution.

The event began with an ecumenical worship animated with Brazilian popular music. Staff and clients together presented a fishing net shaped as a map of CEADe’s offices ornamented with pictures of clients. The net symbolizes the network of solidarity and mutual support between the organisation and its customers. The priest recalled the importance of these important values promoted by CEADe. The ceremony was followed by a joyful meal where everyone could share their experiences within CEADe.

Founded on February 2, 1984, CEADe started its microcredit programs in 1998. In 2009, it expanded its operations by opening new offices in the province of Bahia and managed to grow the number of its clients by factor 5. As of today, it has supported a total of 12,000 clients in their entrepreneurial projects. 99% of loans go to micro and small entrepreneurs. Supporting the neediest segment of the population, 74% of its clients are women, 38% are young people, and nearly half of the loans are granted in rural areas. The ECLOF network congratulates CEADe’s team and wishes them an equally prosperous future.
