Bankers, investors and microfinance practitioners explore future

Two senior staff members of Armenian ECLOF (ARM ECLOF) have attended a microfinance investors conference in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. The Micro Enterprise Development Initiative (MEDI), which is dedicated to creating a more favourable business environment for Armenian small and micro-enterprises, organized the gathering..

Tigran Hovhannisyan, ARM ECLOF director, and Karen Hakobyan, senior loan officer, joined representatives from eleven other microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Armenia and Georgia, along with five institutional investors from Europe and the USA, as well as representatives of commercial banks and international finance institutions.

The aim of the conference was to help increase the flow of capital to the Armenian and Georgian microfinance sectors in order for them to maintain their high level of growth, and to examine how to use the prospect of future investment as a catalyst for improving MFI performance.
