Microfinance learning
Courses in microfinance have given two staff members of ECLOF Swaziland (SECLOF) valuable insights into the efficient running of microcredit organizations.
Over a two-month period earlier this year, loan officer Sicelo Maziya studied for a certificate in microfinance, and SECLOF co-ordinator Madoda Mngomezulu attended the certificate programme for microfinance managers. The courses, sponsored by the European Union (EU), were held in South Africa at the University of Pretoria School of Business Microfinance Faculty. They were open to all microfinance institutions that had taken part in research by the EU into the effectiveness of microfinance institutions in serving the poor.
After successfully completing his course, Sicelo Maziya said, "The marketing component we went through has made me think clearly about new products that SECLOF could introduce to cater for the wide market that exists in Swaziland".
SECLOF manager, Madoda Mngomezulu explained that his studies had underlined the importance of providing good customer service, and this was the message he would be taking home to his colleagues.
