K-ECLOF has elected Joyce Kimondo as its new chairperson.
ECLOF Kenya (K-ECLOF) has elected Joyce Kimondo, who is a banker, as its new chairperson. Joyce takes up her position during a second term on the K-ECLOF board, where she represents the Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited.
Joyce has been with the Co-operative Bank since 1986, has managed small business lending for the bank and is currently a branch manager. The bank is owned by its 57,000 shareholders, which makes it the largest private indigenous bank in Kenya.
Joyce has a diploma in business administration from Kenya Polytechnic and is married with three children. The family belongs to the Presbyterian Church of East Africa.
K-ECLOF's new chairperson knows the road ahead will not be smooth. Her main task will be to lead the organization back to profitability. In this, she will emphasise the collection of existing loans, as well as the strengthening of internal control systems and the continuous review of K-ECLOF's strategic plans to make sure they are in line with global ECLOF policies and procedures. Joyce also has to make sure that K-ECLOF complies with a new microfinance bill soon to be introduced in the country for all deposit-taking microfinance institutions.
