Clara Nora Chimbayo is the new chairperson of the ECLOF Malawi board.

 

Clara Nora Chimbayo is the new chairperson of the ECLOF Malawi board and also a newly-elected member of the ECLOF international board. She attended her first international board meeting in November. Clara is an accountant and head of finance and company secretary for the Malawi Savings Bank Ltd, where she has developed major policy documents for the management of the bank's finances. She was the liaison officer for the bank's 2003-2005 strategic plan. For two years, she also acted as head of personnel and administration alongside her other responsibilities. For seven years, Clara has been part of her bank's senior management team and has on occasions successfully acted as a trouble-shooter in dealing with both staff and client matters.

Clara's appointment as ECLOF Malawi's chairperson follows a short spell as interim vice-chairperson, to which post she was elected when she joined the board last February. Clara has experience in microfinance through her involvement with the Malawi Social Action Fund's community savings and investment programme. Clara has also researched the microfinance sector in Malawi as a result of her bank's involvement in the Malawi Rural Development Fund.
